Telling the Client’s Story

The multimedia tools we have learned to use can also be used in more conventional marketing applications. Although no one can be more credible in explaining the value of what you do than your Raving Fans, there is also no one who can explain exactly what you do than you. So on this page you will see example of both telephone and video interviews with my clients explaining what they do for customers.

In addition, you will find some more traditional marketing pieces, such as the "Get It Right," "Troll Books," and "AX Computers" movies where I have told the story of my client.

Finally, you will find some very interesting movies that pertain to family, religious organizations, and not-for-profits. Essentially, I use the same tools I would use for marketing to capture favorite family stories, like "Mom's First Camping Trip," "Wally's War Story," and Kari Olsen's "Journey of Faith."

These last applications are worthy of a separate web site all to themselves. We all should be capturing the stories of our families to pass them on to future generations. We could all use some good stories of faith and hope to lead us through these troubled times. These tools can help you do that and bring a little light to the world!

Chris Everett, Everett & Associates

Some people are especially compelling on camera. Their integrity and honesty and warmth show through the lens. Such is the case in this interview with Chris. She captures how she works with clients, then her clients back her up 100%, as you can see on the "Clients Raving Fan" page interview with Pat Ewert.

Get It Right Software Demo! Focus on the Pain!

In the 13 years that I have traveled the country speaking to audiences as their Techno-Motivator™, I have learned a fundamental concept that most technology companies forget time and time again. Just because the designer thinks "fast" is a benefit that does not mean that the customer thinks it is a benefit. They have to be in pain where speed is concerned, or it is not a benefit. Technicians are so close to their inventions that it is nearly impossible for them to think objectively, as a consumer would. Check out this video that demonstrates really powerful software that focuses on the pain the user faces. Be sure to also click on the Client's Raving Fans link and then on the "Get It Right Raving Fan" movie. This was a full motion video interview with the hospital employee who showed me how they use the software. Note - she is not a techie. She used to run a canoe shop in Wisconsin!

What if your organization had a program in place to capture and share these great stories? Click on Kari's story and prepare to be inspired!

Realtor® Tells a Home's Story to Win Listing and Sale - Bethanny Alexander

She was a young Realtor® going up against the "big guy" Realtors® who had a long history in the community. When the prospect asked the big guys how they would market the home, they said, "Well, anything you want." Wrong answer! This homeowner wanted someone with some fresh answers. When he asked Bethanny what she would do, she played this movie. She told him she would stream it off of her web page. The result? She go the biggest listing she had ever had and the house sold in 3 days for nearly $1 million dollars! Other kinds of "virtual tours" of homes have been around for years on the web. Airways Systems – Aligning Yourself with Your Target Market

AirwaysSystems is an old fashioned company in the best sense of the word: dependable, honest, and hardworking. They truly walk their talk when it comes to keeping the air you breathe as clean as possible. They also know their market, so when they had the opportunity to support an upcoming Building Engineer meeting in Chicago, they jumped at it. Not only did they create this overview movie, they conducted 5 interviews with Building Engineers who spoke about Airways work and played it at the meeting in place of the normal humdrum “sales pitch” of other vendors. Imagine the power of members of an association talking about the very services you offer!

Capturing Favorite Family Stories - Mom's 1st Camping Trip!

We are on the brink of losing an entire generation as the parents of the Boomers enter their twilight years. Will their best stories - the stories of our own heritage - die with them? The same tools we use to capture Raving Fan stories can be used to capture Favorite Family Stories. I get my own family together on a FREE audio conferencing bridge and we share stories that I record on my computer, then add photos everyone finds in their scrapbooks. This one is my favorite. It is my Dad in Texas, telling my sisters in Ohio and Florida, and me in Illinois about My Mom's 1st Camping Trip. Told as only my Dad could tell it, it is a wonderful memory for us kids, but even a better memory for generations to come!

John DeBrocke's Multimedia Resume

Are you really going to turn over the marketing of your career to a 2 page white piece of word processing? Are you going to be the 600th resume put on top of the pile in the HR office? Let me ask you a simple question. The job you are seeking - will you be making say, $75,000 or so a year? Do you expect to work for this company at least 5-10 years? That means the "sale" of your position into this company is worth up to a quarter of a million dollars! If you were selling a quarter of a million dollar product, would you expect to do so with a flimsy 2 page typewritten sheet of paper? Listen to this multimedia resume of John's. Then be sure to click on Clients Raving Fans and then click on the "John DeBrocke's Resume Raving Fan" movie. It is one thing to say you are good, but when your customers - to whom you sold products to for years - say you are great, it means much more!

Not-For-Profit Storytelling - Getting $80 Million in Troll Books to Kids

Not-for-profits around the country need to learn to use these new multimedia tools to tell the stories of all the good things they do. Current board members need to share with other potential board members why they support these great organizations to help build stronger boards. And the organizations need to share their stories with the communities they serve rather than hiding their light under a bushel. This project was set up to get $80 million dollars worth of Troll Books into the hands of children. Listen to this story and then imagine what story your organization might have to tell.

War Stories - Capturing Our Veteran's Stories - Wally's Fateful Flight!

We have finally honored the WWII and Korean War veterans over the past couple of years with books, television specials, and movies. But more important than all that nationally focused attention - we also need to capture the personal stories of our Veterans to share with their families for generations to come. But when you hear about Grandpa, or your Great Uncle Fred, or Third Cousin Judy who actually knew Rosie the Riveter, it means much more. Listen to Wally's incredible story and remember that all these tools that can be used for marketing can also be used to capture family stories!
